Panographs: taped from pieces

In the early 2010s I started making collages from negatives. There is a technique called panography, where an image is constructed from many photographs of fragments. The most famous works in this technique were created by David Hockney. I create my work a little differently, I cut up the negatives and then tape them together. I love that deconstruction meets synthesis in this technique. I considered the disadvantage of my old works to be a weak connection between form and content. In the city of Gyumri, this method of creating works turned out to be more meaningful. The fact is that there are still many traces of the terrible earthquake of 1988. The city seems to be assembled from rubble, from fragments. This resonates with my panographs.
